Harrison Street Coffee Shop

admin | Coffee, Restaurants, SHOP | Sunday, January 13th, 2008

Description

Located in the heart of the VCU campus, Harrison Street Coffee Shop has been serving the Richmond area for a number of years. Although they are labeled as a “coffee shop” this little diamond in the rough has so much more to offer! They pride themselves in being a vegetarian-friendly restaurant. In fact, they’re one of the few all-vegetarian restaurants in Richmond. However, they also prepare all their menu items with a vegan option. From the friendly staff, to the laid back atmosphere, and great food, Harrison Street Coffee Shop is a great place to visit whether you’re coming in to hang out or just stopping in for a quick cup of coffee.

Jumpin’ J’s Java

admin | Coffee, Restaurants, SHOP | Thursday, January 10th, 2008

Description

Although at first it may appear as a coffee shop, after a second look its easy to see that Jumpin J’s Java is much more than your average coffee chop. Open for coffee for the early risers of Church Hill since 2004, they offer a wide variety of great coffee with a great menu to match. A long bakery case and a big blackboard detailing all the offerings take up most of one side of the restaurant.

Jumpin’ J’s Java has endeavored to preserve the coffee-shop offerings while ratcheting up the quality of cuisine offered in the evening with aweekly menu of fine-dining options. Although the menu is limited, it is nothing short of elegant. In particular, the wonderful service and nicely varied wine list shows a real ambition to move beyond its previous incarnation.

New York Deli

Description

The deli is back! The New York Deli that is. Still maintaining is classic qualities, this 1930s fixture returns to Carytown with a stylish new look that is a great improvement to what I am told is one of Richmond’s older restaurants. The atmosphere makes this a great place to stop in for a drink, or bring the whole family. Their new, improved menu is what a modern menu should be, lots of variety, serving up many favorite deli sandwiches as well as new interesting and less traditional choices. They provide a little something for everyone, even vegetarians!

New York Nightlife starts nightly at 10 p.m. and is a destination on its own, offering a vibrant yet relaxing atmosphere. Libations flow, as the NY Deli DJs spin a diverse variety of grooves through the night.

Table 9

admin | Restaurants, SHOP | Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

Description

In the heart of the Fan, Table 9 is a quaint little spot on the corner of Park and Meadow. Apple green walls adorned with local art encase the eight tables, tiny bar and kitchen. You get the feeling that this really is a place where everyone knows your name, or at least your face. Table 9 serves unabashedly street-corner comfort food. And vegetarians, have no fear. There are a few salads and a hummus plate on the menu as well.

Owner George Tarasovic has been in the Richmond restaurant scene for years. Having worked at places such as O’Tooles and Kuba Kuba, Tarasovic wanted a place where family and friends could come for good no-nonsense food and fun. The regulars would say he’s done it.

Sticky Rice

admin | Restaurants, SHOP | Monday, October 29th, 2007

Description

Sticky Rice is truly unqiue. The funnest sushi bar this side of the Mason Dixon. With its charming atmosphere and bad attitude you wont find anything quite like it. Our specialty is our fresh sushi bar, with rolls like g.i.jane, shiitake happens and godzilla how could you go wrong. Our huge bowls of noodles will satisfy big and small. We also feature a kids menu. And on Thursdays kids under 12 eat for free! Also our menu has sandwiches, large salads and full entrees. Don’t forget the (soon to be famous) bucket of tater tots with our special tater tot sauce. Sticky Rice established last century has been rolling on and on. There are currently 3 locations including: Sticky Rice, Sticky Rice Togogo, and the Sticky Rice TogoCart.

Sticky Rice serves up an unusual mix of American, Pan-Asian entrees in a friendly, inexpensive and inviting atmosphere. Spring rolls, potstickers, sushi, noodles and edamame (steamed soy beans) are simple and standard. Lots of choices for vegans and vegetarians.
